A floral design workshop in celebration of Vyshyvanka Day & Kyiv Day Hosted by UA&Co. | Featuring European coffee service by Café des Chutes | This program supported in part by the City of Bend. Enter a circle of story, memory, and blooming beauty. Bloom & Thread is more than a floral workshop—it’s a cultural experience rooted in the rich traditions of Ukrainian spring celebrations. Led by Ukrainian-born floral artist Tatiana Chelekhova, this hands-on experience invites participants to create European-style hand-tied bouquets inspired by the symbolic patterns of vyshyvanka embroidery and the festive spirit of Kyiv Day. We’ll work with a vibrant mix of fresh blooms sourced from a special flower order and wild native plants foraged from Central Oregon’s high desert—letting rose and sagebrush, tradition and landscape, speak in harmony. As we arrange, Tatiana will share stories from her own journey—from the Soviet era and the aftermath of Chernobyl, through the awakening of an independent Ukraine, to her life and work in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village. Her teachings are steeped in personal and ancestral memory, where every bouquet becomes a thread in a larger cultural tapestry. Enjoy a quiet moment with European coffee service by Café des Chutes, browse traditional Ukrainian designs, and create something both beautiful and deeply meaningful. No prior experience needed—just a heart open to story and creation. Families and children are warmly welcome.
